Katsura wood blocks are used as an alternative to cherry wood that is becoming harder to source and is expensive. These 13mm solid side grain blocks are nice and thick so both side can be carved. To prepare for cutting we advise that you give the surface a quick sand along the grain with a fine 1000 grit paper.
